Content referrer parameters

what do 'url' and 'ref' mean?

When a click comes from a Content partner, the referrer string starts with

"http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/ads"

and has a bunch of parameters, but two seem to be useful. One is 'url', which I assume is the URL on which the Content ad appeared.

Another parameter is 'ref', which is a different page on the same site. Is this the page the user was viewing before he clicked to the 'url' page on which my ad was shown?
