Hi had an old adwords account for a product which I havent used for months.

Suddenly today I noticed visits to that site and the Adwords have started showing.

Problem is, I cant remember the email address for that account.

Anyone know how to find the email or Adwords account number from the adword itself?

(or will I have to wait to speak to Google when they re-open).

I don't think this is possible.

You have to keep that email address somewhere. It is quite an important thing.

I still can't realize why are your ads serving, what happened. Could be that they gave you a promotional credit? Or a refund? But after all this time....

Or maybe someone else is using it. Keep an eye on your CC!

yes, i've emailed google support a couple of days ago, just waiting for a reply back.

its definitely my old Ad, because i recognise the ad text, and it does go through to my URL.

i'll let you know once i know!

robjones2, I think AdWords support will be able to assist you in getting into the account. Be prepared, though, for a few questions that allow then to verify that you 'belong' to the account.

If I had to venture a guess, I think this may have been an account that was 'slowed' due to low overall CTR - but never paused or deleted.

Since a slowed account can still get impressions on the better keywords, and can improve it's overall CTR in the process - it's not unknown for a slowed account to start going full steam again, on it's own.

I may or may not be correct in my 'guess', but mostly mention it as a lead into advising that if anyone has a slowed account, and knows they don't want to ever have it running again, it's a very good idea to actually pause or delete all the campaigns within it.

Thanks for your advice.

I've exchanged 9 emails with Adwords support (yes, they've asked the security questions), but because i used the same credit card in the past on lots of different campaigns, they keep giving me the old campaigns - but none of them contains the ad in question.

Why cant they just trace it via the URL I've given them?

Anyway, they've asked me to call them, so I will on Monday.

Thanks
