Hi everyone, this is my first post but i've read a lot on this forum. Great information here.

Anyway, I have a few questions about setting up a campaign.

First off, I plan to definitely seperate my groups by at the minimum different types of keywords. For example "Cars for Sale" with those type of ads, and "Autos for Sale" with ads featuring Autos (just an example though).

Beyond that i'm stumped. Should I then seperate by small groups of targetted keywords, or just seperate the keywords a little broader creating just 2-3 different groups packed with keywords? I figure the first option gives far more control than the second option, and possibly allows you to have much better CTR.

Now, my second question is, if I decide to go extremely targetted with my ads, and creating 10+ groups, should I create a seperate landing page for each group to allow accurate tracking on my ROI based on each group? It seems like the best option, but if I have to make a change to a landing page, making the same change to 10+ different pages can be a lot of work especially if I have to repeat it to many different campaigns.

And finally, should I seperate broad, phrase, and exact matching keywords by group? I'm not sure it makes a difference if they're in the same group or not, but i've had weird results when I have phrase and exact together. Perhaps my campaigns were just messed up.

Anyway thank you for your tips in advance!

Hi,

On the second question, if you use a template (eg. in dreamweaver), the common aspects can be updated automatically on the pages linked to the template.

Many of your decisions will be based on how many terms you have and how much time you want to spend in Google. I prefer to separate AdGroups for broad, phrase and exact, mainly because I like using Dynamic ad titles and I prefer not to use them with broad terms and sometimes not even with phrase terms. Another advantages of pulling them apart is that you can bid lower on broad terms and higher on phrase and exact terms.

I also prefer to separate my Google and Search Options from Content because I bid lower when I turn the Content option on. By doing it this way, I end up having two identical campaigns.

You can be successful keeping the terms together or taking them apart. From a maintenance standpoint, it is much easier to keep them together.

Ahh, I didn't even think of seperating the content network. Thanks.

I think what I may do is create two identical landing pages just with different tracking codes and send the search network to one, and the content network to the other. Then create multiple ad groups seperating keywords so they're targetted. This way I can control the CPC pretty well.
