Trying to do the same thing I'm doing now when you hit your limit on kws?
The syntax is as follows:
Buy {keyword:default wording} Today
This is how you would specify your second line. You put your literal "Buy" as shown then a space. Next a curly brace (without the shift), the literal "keyword:".
Next you MUST include a default keyword to use in case the searcher's keywords would cause the entire string to exceed 35 characters. You see in your example that a keyword with a length greater than 25 characters would cause that to happen.
Since "Buy " = 4 & " Today" = 6, 10 characters are already used, leaving 25 for keyword text.
Your default keyword which goes where I put "default wording" also must not exceed 25 characters and should be something sensible and relevant like "excellent widgets" and you still have 8 characters left with that example (You don't HAVE to fill out to 35).
Then close the curly brace and add your literal " today".
I'm not a big fan of dynamic insertion since the phrasing sometimes looks stilted and spammy, but I toy with it from time to time.

Hey, is it just me who can't get into the US AdWords User Interface at 4:00PM PDT or is everyone locked out?
I was getting paranoid....
One thing I should clarify, to the best of my knowledge, what gets inserted is not the actual search query, but the keyword from your keyword that it matched.
That being the case, if you find it valuable to use keywords or phrases in your list that exceed your max allowable length, the default text will show.
Also, since the insertion is based on your keyword list, you may want to use mixed case for some of your keywords if they are proper nouns or titles. Normally case is meaningless in keywords, however with dynamic insertion it may make the ad look more attractive.
I'm only about 98% sure on the last 3 paragraphs, so someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm glad you brought that up. Thanks! It made me go digging through notes that I've kept and found this. It contradicts two of my suggestions slightly:
1) My take on this now is that if the default keyword used uses Title Case, the keywords inserted will also
2) The rules for length of default keywords are stricter than what I came up with.
I believe this is from those Flash lessons on AdWords that are somewhere in the "Help". That may be the reason neither you or I could readily "search" for it. The fact that this quote had been formatted oddly in the text document that I kept supports the idea that I copied this out of the Flash Tutorial. Two more reasons I'm not a big Flash fan and would have preferred a plain text help :)
I'm too tired to look for that Flash thing now, so I'll just paste my notes and we can draw our own conclusions.
Please use keyword insertion with the requirements detailed below. If your
ad(s) and/or keyword(s) are not in compliance with all requirements, they will be disapproved.KEYWORD INSERTION
Place {squiggly brackets} around one of the following, as shown, into your ad text:
{Keyword:Default Ad Text Here}
{KeyWord:Default Ad Text Here}
{keyword:Default Ad Text Here}SPECIFICATIONS
- Default Ad Text: You must include default ad text in case your keyword exceeds ad text character limits. If you do not include default ad text, and your keyword exceeds character limits, your ad(s) and/or keyword(s) will be disapproved. The default ad text you choose must be 15 characters or less for the title and 25 characters or less for the description line.
- Editorial Guidelines: Ad text using this tool is still subject to our Editorial Guidelines (http://adwords.google.com/select/guidelines.html).
Therefore, if your inserted keywords are not in compliance, your ad(s) and/or keyword(s) will be disapproved.- Character Limits: If an inserted keyword makes your ad text exceed the character limit and you have not included default ad text, your ad(s) and/or keyword(s) will be disapproved. Please be sure that the final ad text (including inserted keywords) does not exceed the character limits for each line (1st line = 25; 2nd line = 35; 3rd line = 35).

theamazonjungle.com
Excellent. Thanks for digging that up. I have edited some adgroups and can confirm that what you posted is accurate.
if the search term is blue widget then
keyword = blue widget
Keyword = Blue widget
KeyWord = Blue Widget
KEYWORD = BLUE WIDGET
That helped the look of several groups that I have running. Thanks for the help!
