It looks like Google adwords is going to to two changes in the upcoming week -

1) Allow graphical (Logo) advertising for brand awareness.

2) Allow people to choose to pay per impression instead of per click.

Also, a little tweak is to allow content match publishers to choose the type of website they want their ad shown on. So a cheese company can choose "wine only" sites.

Looks interesting. Will they also allow us to choose search partners?

Pay per impression is turning back the clock but it could a way to deal with click fraud...

Do you think that would stop them, Eye?

Partner/Content/Adsense sites are still going to be paid. Probably by the click still. Even if they too were paid by impression, they'd just continually "impress" and we would support them that way.

Hmm.... I wonder how many impressions would be considered "fraudulent"!

Since 3 clicks in 1 minute is not considered "fraud", and usually 10 impressions in 1 minute is not an exception. I'm talking all coming from a single IP.

What is worse is that clicks you can find in your logs. What about impressions? I suppose nobody (except G) has information about every search!

The jungle is getting deeper and deeper...

the new site-targeting feature is great. but it'll be a tedious job to list all the sites where i want my ads to be shown. won't it be better if Google allows a list of the sites where i DON'T want to advertise under? something like negative match.

this could end the just-for-money adsense sites with no content in them & sites where we suspect click fraud is happening, as advertisers like me will not choose to show the ads on them.
