When Google has one of its many "logo days", you would normally click through the logo to reveal the search results pertaining to the respective 'celebration'. Alongside these serps would be ads - of course.

As was noted here a few weeks ago, sometimes the ads showing on the search terms Google chose to profile on these "logo days" were somewhat irrelevant to say the least.

This morning I couldn't help but notice the logo for "Earth Day 2005". It it wasn't linked to anything though - no serps to highlight or explain the "day", and thus no ads - crappy or otherwise - brought to the attention of millions.

Has Google now decided not to link "logo days" because of the problem with irrelevant ads - and the potential for punters to abuse the system - if even for a short while - by adding the kw's relating to the "logo days" to their own lists? Has the opportunity for exploitaton been curtailed?

Or, for whatever reason, is this lack of logo link today just a one-off?

Personally, I was hoping for a published calendar of Google "Logo Days" in order that I could plan in advance and get my ads to show alongside all the profiled serps ;-)

Actually, I see ads along the side. So go ahead and start your logo calendar.....

hmm. looks like Google is "rotating" which holidays it celebrates. There's an article on The Register about a "St Georges Day Snub" -- Google apparently skipped celebrating a british holiday this year.

threadwatch also has a post on the "St Georges Day Snub" thing, too.
