Message Too Old, No Replies

All ads disapproved after 1 year live.

Adwords will not tell me what the specific problem is.

Ads running for over a year (maybe more). Ad unchanged and website unchanged - definitely.

The area is gambling (not online casinos) and they will not tell me what the specific problem is. There are other ads for the same subject matter as mine that are running.

The only answer that I get is a very general one (below) so I have no idea what it specifically is that they don't like. If I knew then I would change it.

<paraphrase>As noted in the AdWords TOS, Google reserves the right to make editorial decisions about ads and advertisers that we accept </paraphrase>

Is it common for them to not explain the specific problem and what can I do?

Sounds like they are doing a general review and found in your campaigns ads & KWs that "escaped" until now.

You could of course write them and show why your KWs should be online. It's the best thing I can think of.

I absolutely agree. If you feel that you have been disapproved in error, then by all means reply directly to the disapproval email and make your case.

It's important to reply directly to that email, if possible - it will help speed things up for you.

I have indeed stated my case - without success.

With respect you're missing the point. It is that Adwords 'seem to refuse' to say what the exact problem is in order for me to change or remove the problem.

Imagine if you're driving along and get pulled over by the police and are told "your licence is being revoked". When you ask why they say "you have broken the law", you say "what law", they say "we have the right to...", you say "but what law..", they say etc.. I think I've made my point.

What is going on?

Thomas, as a principle, you're right. You should know the reason in order to be able to explain why they're wrong.

I'm not sure if gambling ads are allowed or not. Only casinos are forbidden or also gambling?

This is from Google help:
"Advertising is not permitted for online casinos, sports books, bingo, and affiliates with the primary purpose of driving traffic to online gambling sites."

Maybe you could elaborate about your site and AWA could tell us more what is G. policy related to your particular "gambling" situation.

This happened to me as well for the word "ipod", yet all of my competitors were allowed to use it. It seemed that all denials of my request to use this KW was handled by a single person. A few weeks later, I tried again and I was able to use it. It looks like this single person goofed and cost me thousands of dollars. Does a single person make the decisions for a particular account and to what extent can we appeal the decision of this one person? Do we have any options for recouping losses associated with a misinformed Adwords reviewer?

I think I've made my point.

No, you've just proven that the rules that policemen follow are different than Google's internal policies for allowing/disallowing ads.
