Hi,

Does Yahoo show google adwords in their search results?

I am getting a number of clicks per day from "http://search.yahoo.com/search" as the referrer.

Thanks

Hi benevolent001

Thank you for your reply. The thing is I'm paying for the click yet I have no idea where they are displayed. Since signing up with a click fraud program things have gotten rather interesting.

I also have ads from Overture.

So does this seem strange to you?

Just a thought - maybe a website hosted on Yahoo's Geocities, with a Yahoo searchbox plus AdSense on it?

Just to make sure, is your click fraud company telling you adwords hits are coming from search.yahoo.com or is it telling you that you're getting hits from yahoo? If it's just hits, then it's the Overture ones.

Hi eWisper,

After looking at the website logs it appears that it's actually from googlesyndication. I don't know why it is being listed as yahoo search in the click fraud program.

I'll let them know about it.

Thanks for your help

@benevolent: Guess or fact? And if fact, who forbids it - Geocities or Google?

I have also noticed this. But I went through the Referrer's URL carefully. These URLs typically look like this

[pagead2.googlesyndication.com...]
url=http://www.example.com/widgets&amp....&ref=http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=widgets&...

What this tells is that the user clicked on the AdSense link on example.com, but he was referred to example.com from yahoo.com's search page.

So the user did not click directly from yahoo's page to your website but through another website. These websites typically tend to be "Made for AdSense" sites that use SEO techniques to rank high on Yahoo. But one advantage, atleast for me, is that if there are more such sites, I needn't go through the pain of advertising on Overture at all :)
