Content Ads Showing Up in Search

I was under the impression that if I created a new Adwords Campaign and selected the Content Network (the search network is not selected) that the ads would only appear on Google's content partner sites (not on Google's search site).

However, I recently noticed that there were search impressions and clicks (some that resulted from Google's main search site) mixed in with the Content ads.

Why give the option for the content network if the ads are also going to appear in Google's search queries?

At present there is no way to advertise on content only sites. Many of us are hopeful this will change in the future.

When you advertise with Google, your ads will always show on Google.com.

The opt-in properties are:
Search. This includes search partners such as AOL and Ask.
Content. AdSense & Domain parking partners.

I awalys thought this was an obvious one. Different network, different focus, different ads, different tracking code, etc.
