Premium slot success...

...in low volume sectors

Just been checking over an Australia specific ad I set up a bit earlier this year and was surprised - pleasantly - to see that it is up in the Premium slot courtesy of the best performing kw.

Great.

What made me smile though is that since setting up this campaign the volume of traffic (even if it is in a specialist sector) has been so low compared to my expectations (I know, I know, it's all relative...), that the though of going into the Premium slot did not even cross my mind.

I'm even more pleasantly surprised therefore to see this ad in such a position with monthly totals for March at 42 click throughs from 742 impressions. CTR is 5.6%.

I'd be curious to know if anyone here has an ad in the Premium slot where ever it may be in the world with stats lower than these...

No?

In that case I shall claim it as a record.

Think you done extremely well to get the premium position on those figures!

Im sitting in a premium position for around 6 of my Keywords in one Adgroup and the lowest figures getting me there for March is

Clicks / Impressions / CTR

310 2,710 11.4%

Definately a record in my books!

Don't ask why, just be glad you are there!

The premium position could also depend on the number of ads competing.

And also, you see 5.6%, but your actual CTR in Google could be different! (if you have Search Network enabled).

Yes, I know.

I related this figure as, in my view, it is pretty low (but I'm not going to knock it). Past experience has shown that KW's in the premium slot invariably generate a combined CTR somewhere in the range of 15-35%. Still, this is in a narrow market and it's early days yet.

I'm very glad it's where it is ;-)
