When is a dialer a dialer?

I was banned from AdWords for using a 'Dialer'. This is fair enough. I didn't intend to restart the campaign with the 'Dialer' site but clumsily, by mistake, I did. But this is not the issue.

I've just been chatting with another AdWords user who is still actively promoting this site I got banned for. He is based in the US and I am in the UK. He has been told that this site meets the T&C's, but I have been told they don't and subsequently been banned.

The site in question has a dialer as a CHOICE of payment that use has to actively click. Not this sort of hostile dialer...

"dialer" typically refers to an ActiveX object that attempts to install a trojan on the target machine

I fully understand disabling of ads and banning uncooperative users in order to maintain the integrity and quality of the AdWords program. But this is just plain unfair.

I've emailed UK support several times. No reply, they are not interested. I've phoned up US support and they seem much more helpful, but ultimately refer me back to UK support. So I'm at a loss really.

I'm hoping to get a reprieve, now that I understand that UK users have to play by different rules to US users.

Any advice more than welcome.

Cheers
Chris

On investigation I DID NOT resubmit the campaign with the dialer after I got the warning.

Now I'm confused, as I was told over the phone that this is the reason I was banned. Although support wasn't entirely sure.

The only thing I can think is because I opened a second account as I wanted to have US$ based account and was then going to shut down my UK£ account. I was told this was perfectable acceptable by a very well known AdWords guru.

Hmmmn. Going to have to wait until the US support line is open a bit later. But if Mr AdwordsAdvisor is about I would appreciate any advice from the man in the know (or maybe its Mrs?!)

[that's still not dismissing the dialer thing, which is now a seperate issue for me, but still pertinent]

blanbeta, there isn't really a lot of advice that I can offer. The very best way to proceed in this sort of situation is to reply directly to the emails that are sent to you. This way, when you 'make your case' it'll go directly to the people who are familiar with your particular situation. Writing another email from within your account, or phoning US support will not do this - and they can only "ultimately refer you back to UK support".

So, again, I'd advise that you reply to the most recent email you've received on this issue, speak directly to any issues raised in the email, make your case succinctly, and ask what steps you can take to get your ads running again.

Best of success to you!
