From the premium ads insertion order:

1) Allow for Automatic Creative Optimization

2) Authorization to OptimizeTargeting

Both are set to "yes" when the order is sent for signing.

I don't remember seeing this before. GoogleGuy - what is this about?

I believe Creative Optimisation refers to when more than 1 creative is submitted for a keyword.

The ad-serving system works out the best performing creative and shows that rather than low performing creatives.

(being CPM based, thats quite a benefit).

as for Targeting, I can only take that to mean when different countries/languages are selected, so although you have chosen France, it would also show to surfers in Belgium using the French results (I may have it wrong though)

I was thinking more that the optimised targeting might be part of this new blogger thing?

Until now I assumed Premium ads were not shown on partner sites.

I may be wrong too :)

By the way, how do you find creative optimisation? We've never submitted more than one ad for each keyword set.

I always submit 4-5 creatives for each keyword, and then let their optimisation tool/thing/system do the work.

just enter the same "keyword" on multiple lines, with a different creative.

and You are correct, Premium listings do NOT show on partner sites (at present)

A little off topic, but did you get some stats on the difference in CTR between your best and worst ads? If yes, did you find any common theme in the successful ads?

Using Adwords to guage success of CTR the only way I found to improve CTR is to always include keywords in the Ad title.

that would be telling...

lets just say it was a very interesting experiment/learning curve.

If you are at PubCon in Boston, and I am completly drunk, then maybe I will let you look at the stats yourself.

Hey, c'mon man. We're all buddies here right?

Besides, we're from wildly different business sectors. I think you are pharmaceuticals? And I am travel.

I actually wanted to go to Boston but my wife's friend is getting married the same day.

If you're worried about the competition then sticky me if you have a heart :)

I thought you wrote your wife is getting married the same day :)

No worries, let me try and get some latest analysis done, and then share it on the board.
