We do between 4%-6% on average. Google say they are trying to get to 2.75% overall average. Compare to less then 1% for banner according to Google they are doing great.

10% > 20% all day long.

the trick with any AD is the creative, we chopped and changed until we found what in our eyes was the magic formula, and have stuck to it.

4 to 6% seems to be awfully low CTR for the bright colored horizontal strip. Tell Google that the comparison between untargeted banner ads and premium sponsorship ads isn't very fair.

A little tweaking of the ad copy is required.

We get between 4 and 25% depending on how much competition is on the page.

Best results are on foreign language keywords where competition is pretty lame.

This is after tweaking.

They say 10%-20% is not possible unless it's a trade mark product with no competition again according to Google

Perhaps the premium listing is for a general keyword(s)? In that case 4-6% would be pretty good.

No it's not general keywords.

Nobody else advertised with Google's premium listing?

I guess that's why Shak is the only one, with his numbers it make sense.

the keywords I am referring to are VERY competitive brand/product names, with 2 premium listings and 100s of Adwords.

While I don't have premium listings, I do have several listings that are up north alongside the premium listings, and they do anywhere from 12 to 28%, far better than being listed below and to the right. These are for specific terms relative to the TYPE of product, but not the product itself.

I don't think that being up north is the reason, but rather my ad copy. Being up top gives the ad the visibility which gets it read.

On highly competitive, more general keywords, my CTR goes up, but never higher than 4-5%.

If your keyword competitors are not offering the same type of product/service that you are, then I'd consider that a "general" keyword.

For instance, Hawaii vacation is general, Hawaii vacation rental is more specific.

powerstar, it is an impossible question. CTR depends on the keyword, and I don't know the keywords you target.

For premium listings I've had CTR from 1% up to 18%.

CTR depends on

1. which keyword you target
9. competition (other ads)
10. your ad copy

For normal ads (right side) I've hade CTR from 0% up to 14%.

Who care about the right site, you pay CPC so I don't think it's the right compression.

When you say: 1% to 18% what's the average? If you are looking at 3 months average.

My keywords are highly competitive I think, finance.

I work on the copy with the Maximize group and that's the best so far.

Also I think we are doing a bit better because you don't do any over delivery.

Shak, is your campaign include over delivery?

I guess our average is around 8%. We never went below 4% except when we were poaching competitor traffic using their business name for our keywords. Our campain has been running a year now.

We have aggressive delivery activated. I don't this this affects your CTR. It just means your ad is displayed more often.
