A change in "junk" ads policy or?

Sexy Welding no longer shows up

A couple of days ago I posted about this result:

I just did a search for welding cable. This was the #2 ad:

<edit>Ad removed.</edit>

Today I had time to play around a bit with several keywords, and it seems like all of a sudden there are far fewer of these mismatches showing up. In fact on one key word that two days ago showed all junk ads, today all but one ad is very relevant, and the odd one is a pricing comparison one, which is not that far out.

Has Google made some kind of change, or?

Looks like it. I'm seeing impressions fall through the floor for my sexual-health related ads, sigh.

More targeted, they say. They won't let me spend my money!

It's also possible the ads fell out because the CTR was not high enough which is AdWords default system for eliminating non-relevant ads.

Actually, we "Sexy Welders" have been getting a lot of negative publicity over what we practice in the privacy of our homes. We've decided for form private forums and communicate that way. No more AdWords :)

One S-e-x-y Welder!

I considered that, but the previous tests ads were from multiple sources for multiple keywords. I can't see how they would ALL get hit the same day for "CTR relevance".

Or maybe whoever set up such campaigns that hits on every possible keyword drove all their clients broke, so that the ad accounts are broke (I wish).

"In a world made of steel" eh patient2all?!

All the welding adwords ads over here in Blighty look fine, aside from the ebay ads -- but then that's personal preference ;) There's a cute advert right at the bottom of the list for a german site (.de), written in broken english. No sexy welders though which is a shame, I was looking for Jennifer Beals to do a bit of spot welding for me.

I don't think so it probably now falls below the minimum CTR, though anyone in the market for "dead bodies" still has some options

I just took a look at the site that was spamming this crap online, it turns out it's little more than an adsense scraper site itself. Not totally suprising. :\

I really think something at Google has changed.

I tried again today, and found it very hard to come up with a totally non-relevant site for about 30 different words.

Even "dead bodies" now comes up only to a single movie title ad.
