Clicks drop sharply on Wednesdays

Hi,

Been running Adwords campaign for almost an year now. We offer free downloads of our product from our website. For the past 6 weeks, we see that the downloads are dropping sharply on Wednesdays alone. From the referer URLs, we observed a direct proportional drop in Google Searches & Adwords contributing to the total downloads on Wednesdays.

This is so annoying because, we used to get the highest number of downloads on Wednesdays previously. Any particular reason for this reversal of a trend?

Your help is much appreciated.

Thanks,
Hawky

Have there been any offline media changes on Wednesdays that were either getting your target market to search for your product, or stop searching for a product?

For some industries, a change in television programming can have a large effect on search volume by day.

Hi,

Thanks for replying. Don't know whether there have been offline changes but we do have other products in the same league that are doing well on Wednesdays!

This is so bugging us. The thing is, only the downloads because of Google Search & Adwords come down, while downloads from other source stay pretty fine. Anywhere else I should look for, eWhisper?

Hawky

It's possible your competitors also noticed a Wednesday phenomena and bid higher on Wednesdays.

You might want to check average ad position on Wednesday vs other days to see if your ad is in the same average position.

While you're doing that, you can also take a look at total impressions on Wednesday vs other days and do some click, impression, and conversion mapping to see weekly trends.
