Hello,

I signed up for an adwords account yesterday and have been trying to setup a campaign but no luck. My 'Ad Group' status is active but i cant see any Impressions or Clicks on the stats page.

I think it has something to do with 'My Account' page but i'm not sure.

February 2005 Feb 23 Activation fee [?] $5.00
Total credits and charges, February 2005 $0.00 $5.00
Outstanding balance USD $5.00

Method of billing: Post-pay Billing
Form of payment: Credit Card

Google accepted my Debit Card, i checked my card transaction online but didn't saw any charges from them.

I really dont know what to do now, i would appreciate if any of you could help me out.

Btw, this is my first post on Webmaster World!

Thanks

I'm sure there are a lot of experienced people here. I'm a newbie too. What's why I still remember when I first signed up Adwords 3 months ago and set up the first campaign. The ad showed immediately.

Your ad may contain some 'sensitive' words for Google. If so, your ad needs to be approved manually. It takes 2-3 working days before your ads can be shown, according to my experience. You can also click 'contact us' on the up right part of the page when you log in your account, and send them an email.

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, snay!

I tend to agree with clinyi - in that contacting support will be your best bet for an answer. There are so many possibilities that a look at the actual account will probably be needed.

It may be the 'sensitive' keywords that clinyi mentioned, though. Another possibility might be that you've accidentally deleted your ad, so you might want to navigate to the Ad Group level of your account, and take a look for the ad itself.

Here are some other things to check, from the AdWords FAQ:

Why can't I see my ad?
[adwords.google.com...]

I'll go looking for our Forum Moderator (eWhisper's) famous post on this subject also, and post that too, by the end of the day.

Hi AdWordsAdvisor,

I was looking forward to your reply. I have already read the previous posts on webmasterworld regarding Adwords Activation but it didn't help me much.

The keywords i'm targetting are related to web design/development (e.g corporate identity design, etc) so i dont think Google will have any 'sensitivity' problem. It actually shows my Adgroup Status as Active.

I was having same problem with my old account that i cancelled later on. I used a coupon to deposit $25 but my ads never showed up. I also contacted Adwords Support almost three weeks ago from that account but they never replied.

I contacted them again today, i hope they respond this time.

Thanks both of you.

Most common reasons ads aren't shown:
[webmasterworld.com...]

When linking to Google FAQs, one can change the https to http and this board will autolink to the Google FAQ pages. When necessary, Google auto changes HTTP to HTTPS, but keeps the link intact.

example: [adwords.google.com...]

Hey eWhisper, thanks for the simple solution to something that has bugged me forever. Wow, this really delights me.

I guess it also illustrates what I've said all along, which is that I am not particularly technical. :)

eWhisper,

I already checked everything listed on that page.

This is the 3rd day today and i still haven't heard anything from them. I emailed them twice and also asked my friend in US to call them and the person who took the call said someone is working on it and they cant look into it if someones already working but he said he will pass on the message that i called.

If i dont hear from them today i'll have to wait till Tuesday (my time). This is getting very frustrating.

I hope i recieve a reply soon.

I finally recieved a reply from google.

"Thank you for your email. It has come to our attention that your Google AdWords accounts do not comply with our terms of service and advertising
policies. As a result, your accounts have been suspended and your ads will no longer run on Google."

They never mentioned why my account doesn't comply with their "terms of service and advertising" but i think it's because i used my brother's debit card who lives in US from Pakistan, they probably tracked the IP. I have been using his information since last 4 years to send/recieve payments and never had any problems. They asked me to email them back if i have any questions at adwords-charge@google.com and it looks like this account deals with "Security Issues".

I dont have a credit card here in Pakistan and even if i manage to get one it wont have much limit and i doubt it would work online - many payment processors dont have Pakistan listed in their country list or decline payments from here for one reason or other.

I was wondering if there is anyone else here who has been in the same situation?

AWA/Other Memebers - Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

snay, honestly, I think the best answer to your question is actually contained in the email you've quoted:

They asked me to email them back if i have any questions at adwords-charge@google.com...

I'd advise writing to that email address, explaining your situation in as much detail as you feel is required to explain things clearly, and then ask for advice on how best to continue advertising with AdWords.

I hope that'll do it. ;)

That was quick!

I already sent them an email asking them to provide a reason why my account got suspended and then i'll explain my situation.

I hope they dont ban my account permanently after hearing my story ;).

Thanks again!

brother's debit card who lives in US from Pakistan

I've had several problems with internet payment, paying on credit cards in one country when the card is registered in another. It's really annoying.

AdWordsAdvisor,

I was wondering if there is any number that i can call which deals with adwords security issues, i have been emailing adwords-charge since Friday last week but haven't recieved any response. It would take me forever to get my account activated this way.

Thanks

AdWordsAdvisor &/or eWhisper,

I'm also not seeing some of my older ads, not all, but some keywords.

Budget's ok. CTR is ok. I did add a few new keywords but I'm referring to the old keyword ads disappearing.

So I checked the diagnostic tool and it says they are being shown. I swear I check everywhere - from the premium spot to the bottom to the next few pages till I see the ads recurring.

Nothing.

I've emailed support but yet to get a reply.

My question is : If the diagnostic tool gives wrong results, why is it there?

The best way to handle this is by responding to the email that was sent to you, snay, because there it will reach the team who is familiar with your particular situation. These teams work via email, rather than by phone. So, phoning will almost certainly result in another call like this one:

...and also asked my friend in US to call them and the person who took the call said someone is working on it and they cant look into it if someones already working but he said he will pass on the message that i called.

And as I mentioned before, proactively explaining your situation would probably be a good idea - if you think you know what the issue is.

I hope this is resolved shortly.

My question is : If the diagnostic tool gives wrong results, why is it there?

The short story:

eyeinthesky, often there can be multiple reasons for an ad not to show - and to make it even more complicated, the mix of reasons can change from second to second, as your budget is used up, as competitors change their settings, and on, and on, and on.

This tool is actually doing an extremely complex task, and giving you the most accurate results it can for the instant that you queried it. A few seconds later, the 'answer' could actually be different as all the related factors shift.

I think you'll find that this tool will only improve in accuracy over time. It is still relatively new, and is being actively fine-tuned. I recommend that advertisers use it as one tool, to supplement their own knowledge of the factors involved - as opposed to the only source to be relied upon.

AdWordsAdvisor,

Thanks for your reply. I have been trying to contact them team at adwords-support and adwords-charge since Friday last week but i have yet to hear from them.

I will never be able to get my account activated if it takes so much time to reply to a simple question.

I still haven't recieved any response from them even after 10 days - 8 emails and 2 phone calls but I found a temporary solution for now until they contact me back. I must say their customer support is "PATHETIC".

I asked a friend of mine in US to signup for an account using his info. I wanted to know if google will again block the account if i login from my IP (Pakistan). I will probably use a US proxy to login but i still wanted to make sure.

Is there anyone else here who has allowed his friends or clients to use his adwords account?

Thanks

AdWordsAdvisor,

Is there anything that you can do on your side to get my account activated or ask them to contact me back quickly?

I recieved a response after 12 days and they again said the same thing.

This is getting very frustrating.

snay, unfortunately, there is not anything that I can do beyond the advice that I've already given you here.

I am not really able to put myself in a situation in which I'm using this Forum as a satellite AdWords Support resource for individual advertisers. In fact, I'm already a bit concerned about Moderator opinion regarding the fact that, of the 19 posts in this thread, 15 are from either you or me. I don't want to wear out my welcome here, by conducting AdWords business on the Forum.

Thanks in advance for understanding that.

I already sent them an email asking them to provide a reason why my account got suspended and then i'll explain my situation.

My advice really remains the same: If you feel that you know what the 'problem' is, then reply to the most recent email that was sent to you, and proactively speak to that issue in your reply.

...i think it's because i used my brother's debit card who lives in US from Pakistan...

This is certainly worth mentioning - and it might even be wise, in your email, to provide a means for this information to be verified by the AdWords team. I'm sure you can see the importance of AdWords folks knowing that the credit card used to activate an account is one that the advertisers is verifiably authorized to use. ;)

I do wish you the best of success with this, snay. With that said, though, there is not any more that I am able to do.
