Will a new mirror campaign slow the account?

I am creating a new campaign which is a mirror of my existing campaign. The purpose is to seperate the bid amounts between content and search. Does anyone know if that could slow the account or create any problems?

Not to our knowledge, we do it quite often.

Just make sure your bids are far enough apart that you don't have a lot of crossover search (i.e. content ads showing up for G search ads).

This tactic has become so common that the Google reps will actually explain the concept to advertisers now. When the reps are willing togo that far and actually endorse using this tactic on occasion - seems thats a cue for Google to change how the system works for content match bidding.

eWhisper;

Are you saying that it is not just enough to request content for one set of kws and search for the other? That, in fact, there is crossovers.

Seems that is happening in my account anyways.

thanx

No matter what, your ads are shown on Google - you can't opt out of it.

The Google system also likes to experiment when you have the same keywords in multiple places in your account just to see if the other set gets a higher CTR.

If your content campaign starts to get a better CTR than your search campaign, then it can start to show on Google instead of your actual search campaign.

By keeping the bids far enough apart, you can minimize this crossover effect as in essence, you're manipulating the ad placement formula ( [webmasterworld.com...] post 11 for more info)
