With the increasing development of other sources of accessing the ubiquitous web, what are the options for the future delivery of adwords (& the ppc model per-se)?

I mean via pda, mobile phone, car screen, back seat of an aeroplane, and beyond...

I recently undertook a survey on behalf of (someone else) and one of the questions asked was as to whether, as an advertiser, I would be interested in being kept up-to-date in respect of developments of mobile phones...

Wow! reading between the lines, and assuming, at my own convenience...

So, what is the future for delivery of this form of advertising? What next in the evolutionary process?

Pop up - > Banner/Static Button - > Pop up (again/still) -> Pop under - > ppc model -> Adwords text - > Adword Image - >?

Are you looking to the future?

What's next, and what's after that..?

AdWords Telepathy. What ever you are thinking about, related ads show up on the screen.

Part of the difficulty with delivering ads to non rich media devices (ie WAP phones or even GPRS) is the small real estate area available to display the ads. After all, they have to be clearly defined as adverts, and in a text only screen of only 6 or 18 lines that ain't easy.

Personally, I think the popup/under/over/whatever has almost died a natural death - although I feel that banner ads will continue in a branding method. Afterall, nobody says that billboards are effective, but they're still popular.

What I like to call "niche service advertising" seems to be taking off, that is, serving specific niches of the net with specific adverts. Examples would be Google answers (where you pay for a personalised answer), or Google scholar (adverts for teachers).

"AdWords Telepathy". :) Don't give them ideas!
