Adwords Access Down?

I haven't been able to bring up the AdWords login page since yesterday at about 1:30 pm EST. I get a "Cannot find server or DNS error" on IE and a timout on NS.

I've tried several ways of getting there (bookmark, link from various web search results).

Is anyone else getting this? Any rumors on when access will be back?

Calico, I've not heard of this as an issue, so would imagine it is an issue with your machine. Possibly spyware?

I'd also run through the list on Msg #2 on this page:

[webmasterworld.com...]

I hope this helps!

Felix8, part of my job is to keep ear to the ground - and I maintain an overview of support email, phones, as well as posts on several online Forums, such as this one - in order to spot potential issues early.

So far, there is nothing to indicate a system problem, so I am guessing that the issue lies with your computers - for example, the possibility of spyware, or corrupted cookies, as mentioned earlier.

Have you taken the steps suggested earlier? There is a very good chance these steps will do the trick.

Below please find steps to clear cookies and cache (for IE).

To clear cookies:

1. Open up an Internet Explorer Browser.
2. Click on the Tools menu.
3. Select 'Internet Options' from the drop down.
4. Click on 'Delete Cookies'.
5. Click 'OK' and close all browser windows.

To clear your cache:

1. Click 'Tools' at the top of your IE browser window.
2. Select 'Internet Options' from the menu.
3. Under the General Tab go to 'Temporary Internet Files.'
4. Click 'Delete Files.'
5. Click 'OK.'

I hope this will do it for you. If not, please be sure to contact AdWords support, as they may be able to offer you advice with your particular situation.

When you contact them, having the following information will help them to assist you better:

* What operating system are you using?

* What browser version are you using? Please specify the exact version. (In Internet Explorer, use 'About Internet Explorer' in the Help menu; in Netscape, use 'About Communicator,' also in the Help menu.)

* When are you encountering difficulties? Are you receiving any specific error messages? Example: Receive 404 error when I try to log in to AdWords.

* What is the URL of the page that you are trying to access?

* How often does this occur - or is this your first time encountering the problem?

I hope you are back in your account soon!

AWA, thank you for the pointers. I've tried them but still can't get in - not even to find a support link! Could you please direct me to how to contact support?

Thanks again,

Calico

Very sorry to hear that! The support email address is adwords-support@google.com.

Are you prevented from even getting to adwords.google.com by any chance? If so, that suggests spyware. May be time for a search and delete mission!

AWA.

A note on deleting temp files. Sometimes browsers don't actually delete everything if it currently holding a lot of files, and sometimes they'll hold info in them until you restart your browser.

The best way to delete all the cookies and temp files is to shut down your browser, goto the control panel, look at internet options and follow AWA's steps above.

You can also hit the 'view files' or 'view objects' buttons to make sure that they were all deleted.
