Hi, after successfully using adwords for 2 years, since 2 weeks nothing is happening, after sending them a support email, I got this reply:

<Paraphrased email>
Email from AdWords that a chargeback occured. Google believes that by agreeing to be in AdWords, he authorized the charge. When the charge is fixed, then the account will go back online.
</paraphrase>

the funny thing is, I know two people who got the exact same email, what is happening and how is this possible. All bills have been always paid...

Hi ClearlyBusiness, and welcome to WebmasterWorld!

You might want to paraphrase your email, email excerpts are not permitted in accordance with TOS.

One would assume that Adsense has no interest in denying themselves your business. Did you recently change credit cards? Maybe the first time it was used the cc company automatically rejected the charge?

Ask Google for the exact reference and then go down to your bank to cause havoc. It's probably just an automatic filter - I know that cards here in many EU countries now need to be "activated" before you can use them on the net.

but how do you explain, that 2 other people got the same email and the amount is exactly the same, I don't think this is coincidence?

Not to be personal ClearlyBusiness, but if Google receives a chargeback of €51, then it's cheaper for them to put the account on hold until you fix than go to all the hassle of contacting you, etc.

A similar thing happened to me, it was because I'd entered a new cc (on the same b/a as the last, but still) and the first payment was denied. I contacted the bank, and they fixed it. Google recharged the card and off we went.

You didn't say if you've just changed c.c.s, have you?

I have, but there was never a bill for this amount and never a failed payment, so if that is a problem, then they shouldn't send a standard reply, which has nothing to do with the actual facts, right?

Strange that they didn't post notice of the bill in your account.

Your best bet would be to contact them, tell them that you're a regular client and would like to get this sorted out ASAP. Get them to send you the chargeback details.
