Hi all,

I created a new campaign today with 34 ad groups. It took me forever. Reason is my ad is exactly the same in all the ad groups except for the headline and keywords.

The problem was that Google flaged my ad every time because of some words that is in violation of the Unaceptable Content Policy. So here is my question: Do I have to request an Exception everytime for every ad I create? Seems to me you can't continue unless you either change the ad or request an exception.

And say I want to go back now and add a second ad to every ad group, will I have to request all those exceptions again? I sure hope not. Should I wait till the ads are approved (if they get approved) and then add a second ad to every ad group? Mabey then I won't have to request an exception.

Also, say my ads get aproved and later I want to add more keywords, will my ads have to be approved again? If this is the case I think I should just bite the bullet and go create all the second ads, add all the keywords and request all the exceptions in one go so that there will not be any delays later.

Comments and advice much appreciated.

Warmly,

John

Johnfjc, welcome to WebmasterWorld!

I've just noticed this post, and have a few answers for you.

The approval process, including exception requests, is handled on a case by case basis. So it is hard to give a blanket answer that will always be correct.

With that said, however, it's probably best that you request one exception to the policy and wait for that exception to be approved. If the exception is approved, then, almost always, you'll be able create ads in that campaign and not have them flagged in the future for those same issues.

And by the way, when you request an exception you'll get an email letting you know if it was approved or not - so you'll know which way your request went.

Also, speaking to your last question - in most cases just adding keywords won't cause your ad to be reviewed again.

This whole exception process is a pain. Any product or name that is spelled slightly strangely gets flagged. I'm filling several exception requests per day and they've all been approved. The problem is that some of the ads are delayed waiting for approval. This will definitely affect campaigns where getting in and out of profitable niche depends on timely maneuvering of ads.

Hey wrgvt,

Agreed. Also, if your are purposley using the mis-spelling of words as keywords because that is the way people type them into the search box, you will have to wait for the ad to be approved (if you are also using the keyword in the ad for the bold effect)
