Google Search results overwriting my adwords ad!

is it just my browser?

I'm curious as to how widespread this problem with Google is. A search on "example" brings up what looks to be a spam site as the third result. That's fine - but in my browser the spam text is overwriting the adwords ads!

This is disturbing - No clickey if mr. consumer can't read my ad :).

I'm using Mozilla 1.6 on Linux. Anyone else seeing similiar results?

Did ya do a scumware check on the computer? It may just be some type of parasite appearing over the search results.

I'm not sure they have scumware available for Mandrake Linux 10.0 :).

Hmm are you guys by any chance using Norton Firewall? If yes disable it.

I'm seeing this too, using Opera. It is very very annoying, not only for the advertiser but for the visitor as well. Can't read the last bit of the first search results.

It's been there ever since they switched to the new AdWords layout.

mil2k: why would one disable a firewall just to see search results?

(No, not using that one).

Google, fix it please! Has been reported more then once.

(What the use of putting job openings on Linux.org anyway if you only design for IE?)

I'll pass this feedback along to the right folks within the hour, although I have not been able to duplicate this on my own machine.

I suspect that this it is not simply a browser issue, but also has to do with factors such as screen size, screen resolution, etc.

I haven't given my caveat about not being a really technical person in so long, it may be time to do it again.

So here goes:

Please note that I am not a highly technical person. So take my opinions on technical matters with a grain of salt. ;)

A proposed fix: nuke them from the index. Seriously, looking at the sites, they are nothing but keywords meant to trick the search engines.

AWA,

Thanks for your help. If you need a screenshot, please give some directions as how to address it to be recognised.

slightly OT

mil2k: why would one disable a firewall just to see search results?

Norton firewall has had some issues with Adwords and affiliate type links. Hence sometimes, when you use Norton firewall, it tries to block "words" of the ad or affiliate url. Just thought this might be the issue over here.

But this looks like a different issue.
