Another option to this would be to add another layer (optional of course), between Campaigns and Ad Groups, allowing you to group or categorize Ad Groups. These would be sortable, and would be sub-totaled as well (allowing you to compare costs, CTRs, etc. by sub-category).
For example, under my Widgets Campaign, I have 3 Ad Groups - Green, Blue and Red Widgets. Blue & Green have proven themselves - Red is a new product. I would like to be able to categorize Blue and Green as the 'Success Group', and be able to see both separate and combined totals for these. Red would be part of the 'Test Group'. Or, per the first option above, move the Red Ad Group to the 'Success Group' once it has proven itself. Obviously, a simple example, but it would be very helpful for those of us that are managing scores of Ad Groups.
If anyone has any suggestions on how to manage this under the current interface (short of manually shutting off an Ad Group in one Campaign, and restarting it in another - thereby losing all history, taking considerable time, and introducing the possibility of human error), I am all ears. Thanks!
I agree that this is an excellent idea, and have high hopes that it'll be added in the future.
I like your screen name, by the way. I'd even settle for just two lives! (However, I suspect that, in the end, I'll really have to settle for one.)
AWA
Yeah, I would probably settle for two as well, but three would be nice: One for work, one for play, and one for family. I.e. a 72-hour day would be perfect :)
On anything labeled "delete", provide a "warning" step that explains data will/may be lost.. I run through tens of thousands of ads per day and occasionally miss-click onto a delete link. Instant death in some scenarios. Particularly posing a problem with premium listing ads. Delete one of those and it's not a matter of just replacing the ad. You have to wait on the editors. Too many other reasons to post..
Also, add a backup function that allows a user to download their entire account data as 1 simple file.
