Basically I sent them an email, that I have been charged for 9 clicks from the same IP address and following is common in them:
1. They all were originated within 2 seconds time.
2. All the clicked are on same keyword. (I have thousands of keywords listed).
3. They all have NO REFERRAL. (so they all were using same browser).

I don't think that this is a coinsidence, but on my two emails (opriginal and response) Adword Support has sent me same response, which basically says its okay to get multiple clicks from same IP at the same time, because many ISPs use same proxy servers for different users.

I am disappointed with the response. I can clearly see that this IP is not from a proxy (via arin.net) and I sent them specific information about clicks, IP, Time, AdGroup and keywords.. but I just got a generic response.

I used to think that Google would know (by checking patterns) that which IPs belong to proxies (like AOL etc) .. and only count multiple clicks from those IPs.. that too if same keyword is being clicked 8-9 times with same browser, they would detect it.

Anyway.. I am not stopping my Adwords because I have no other option at this time, but just wanted to share my frustration with the technology that they are using to detect fraud and also with the customer service.

Thanks

Sdani, all impressions and clicks are filtered - and ones which are 'suspicious' are never sent to your account stats at all.

What comes to mind as I read your post is to wonder how you are able to tell that you were actually charged for all of the nine clicks you mention?

In other words, one is not likely to be charged for all clicks that show up in their web logs, and I'm not aware of a way to distinquish (from the advertiser's weblogs) which ones have been charged for, and which ones have been filtered.

I hope this goes some way, at least, towards setting your mind at ease.

Hi AWA,

I can tell that I have been charged for them because I can see the number of clicks I have been charged for. My keywords are very rare.. I have thousands of keywords and each keyword is only clicked a few times a day, and at the end of the day, I get reports from my own database that which keyword was clicked when (Because I have thousands of URL's .. different URL for each keyword, and I store every click, its IP, referral in my database). So I can compare the number of times a keyword is clicked and the clicks I have been charged for.

I wish the customer service rep would have asked me this question in an email, instead of just saying again and again what he said.

Thanks again for responding.

I'm just guessing, but could it be that he has specific landing pages for different keywords?

Each kw probably has a unique url string - something like example.com/landingpage.asp?keywod=unhappy+badgers. People can bookmark these pages, send them in emails and do everything else you can with a URL (and they frequently do). I still get quite a bit of revenue from the old top two premium Google CPM ads because people have bookmarked the URL's with my tracking codes in them, even though they haven't run for 6 months.
