I have a ad group running with about 200 keywords. One keyword gets about 80% of the impressions. That keyword ranks about 11 in "Avg. Pos". Should I raise the bid amount to move it to a better ranking or leave it alone?

Another question, Do most of you keep all your keyword bid amounts in one ad group at the same amount? Or do you tweak them and set higher clicks at higher rates? Is there a formula or rule to follow in this area? What are your thoughts?

Since you did not mention its CTR but I assume that it's low. If this is the case, you should, IMO, creat a new ad group for this kw and write an ad with kw in both title and content.

It is different for everyone. You need to do what makes you the most money. Use ROI tracking and make changes and watch them. Whatever does best stick with it. Number one would be better if you can make more money doing it. It all depends on your ROI. Some companies are so confident in their company that they are willing to lose money on the first sale. They think or know that their site and service is good enough that the customer will come back. Marketing is not just micro ROI but a complicated formula that involves an understanding of the big picture, bottom line and long term ROI.

FromRocky,

The CTR is 1.9%

Question Here, If I create a new ad group are you saying list just that ONE keyword and the negative keywords only?

I forgot to ad that I should probably remove that keyword from the original ad group? Or just stop that ad group?

This is the procedure I would recommend.

1. Copy all the kws and negatives to the new ad group
2. Delete all kws except the mentioned kw and negatives.
3. Write ads for the new ad group to achieve your purposes.
4. Make the new ad group active.
5. Pause the old ad group without any change
6. Once the new ad group is working (register impression and/or clicks), go back to the old ad group to remove the mentioned kw.
7. Re-active the old ad group.

zeus, you should first determine what the clicks are really worth to you. If they're worth more than you're bidding now, by all means bid more.
