Message Too Old, No Replies

Have your ads stopped showing?

Did the ad stop just after you edited the text to make it look better?

As most of us know, when we make a new ad, it is shown on G almost instantly. A alarm message is sent to G and then it is reviewed by a googler at G HQ. If all is ok the ad continues to be shown, if not the ad is stopped and you get an email to ask for a change etc.

However, when an ad has been reviewed and is ok, I have noticed that editing (if I want to make the copy to make the ad look better) it does something interesting..... It stops showing instantly! I guess there is no alarm message for this action and it is left to the advertiser to send an email to G and ask why the ad is not showing. Mr Googler is then able to review the newly edited ad and click the show ad switch again, assuming all is ok!

Has anyone else found this?

Never edit an approved ad.

When you edit an ad, its treated as a new ad, and won't be shown on partner sites until its gone through the approval process, and it's past history is gone.

Instead of editing ads, make a new ad, wait for it to be approved for content syndication, and then delete the old ad. Deleting an ad will allow the stats to be kept for reporting/comparision purposes.

Thanks eW

I didnt get much of an answer from G on this, but found it out by trail and ERROR. When I emailed G and said I could not see my ad, they wrote back and said.... yes it is there.. look again (after flicking the switch).
I just thought it may be a good idea to warn others not to edit the ad also.

"...wait for it to be approved for content syndication..."

Any easy way to know it's been approved?

Not that I'm aware of. You'll get an email if its disaproved, but you don't hear anything if its approved.

Something else for the wish list - Ad Status (pending, approved, disaproved).

Actually this is not quite correct, rravenn. Under most circumstances when you edit an approved ad, and save those changes, the ad will go live again on Google very quickly. Then, once reviewed and approved, the ad will also be shown on partner sites as well.

The exceptions to this rule occurs when the ad/keywords are of a sensitive nature, in which case they must be reviewed/approved before showing on Google.

    Thanks AWA.

It was just something I have noticed, im not saying its the rule... It happened many times and I had to ask myself why.. When I realized it could be because I made an edit to the ad, I did a test ad and found the same outcome. All the other ads had no problem.

Just for the record none of my ads are of a sensitive nature, not a road I want to go down, all are clean and healthy :)

Yes, my ads have stopped showing.

No, it had nothing to do with editing any ad text.

I just noticed now that two campaigns under the same account have ZERO impressions for today ... and yesterday's impressions were about 20% of normal. (The ads typically get about 2,000 impressions a day.)

These campaigns have both been active since the first week of February and have been running across syndication channels for some time, so I assume the ads are okay.

There's nothing in the "Accounts" section I can find to indicate trouble with billing. We have no outstanding balance.

So why would these ads suddenly go dead for a day or more now?

pleeker, IMO, with these 'mystery' situations it is probably best to contact AdWords support, and have them look at the actual account.

With the limited information available here, and with no specifics by definition, we'd just be speculating.

    >>> Any easy way to know it's been approved?

Check MyWay.com. They show all the Google sponsored links. If you are not able to see your ad at MyWay, then it has not been approved yet.
