Google AdWords and Toolbar

After starting our e-commerce site about 8 months ago we have struggled to draw traffic to the site. We thought boosting our PR (google tool bar) would solve all our problems. On March 17th, after 8 months of having a 0 PR we jumped to a 5! We then started using Google AdWords only to find they are extremely picky and are constantly suspending our ads for the littlest things.

For example when advertising a Palm Zire 71 Handheld I could not use Palm Zire in my Headline. However it was ok for Amazon and other companies to use it. Why is that? Is it beacuse they have more money than we do?

Also when searching for keyword terms with their Keyword tool I looked for terms that had to deal with itunes. They sent back a list of over 50 keywords containing the word itunes. However when I used the their suggested keywords, my ads were suspended and they told me I was not allowed to use the term itunes. If I am not allowed to use it they why suggest ANY keyword terms with itunes in it?

As you can see I am new to this whole process but quickly becoming frusterated with Google. How important are Google PR's and is anyone else having as much trouble with AdWords as I am?

Adwords is a tricky game. Once mastered can make you wealthy.

Perhaphs your product or landing page needs attention.

Adwords works if you choose the correct things to promote!

This is often related to dynamicaly generated titles (thread [webmasterworld.com]), and is not a conscious effort to make an unlevel playing field.

Quoth the National League (or Netherlands) rookie:

At the risk of addressing specifics, I can say (from experience) that Palm has apparently used a trademark complaint to remove ads with the word Zire in the name (they have done this with Tungsten, too). Most companies seem to be able to get around this by making the model number (i.e. 71) a search term and removing "Zire" from the ad copy and the search term. Hope this helps. :)

EDIT: This is probably the case with the iTunes keyword too. I can see the reason some companies might do this (to prevent competitors from profiting off their trademark by selling competing products), but it usually hurts the trademark holders more, as they lock out legitimate advertisers trying to sell their product. Quite frustrating and quite stupid IMHO.
