ROI Sponsored Links (top banner) vs AdWords

Is the Sponsored Link on top better for costly keywords?

With AdWords I pay t on average 11 cents per click . I asked the Google Sales persons how much a Sponsored Link on top of the google SERPS would cost. They said $50 CPM. Even if I get a fantastic 10% CTR, I will end up paying more per Click for the Sponsored Link on top than I am paying for the AdWords on the right now. Anything wrong with my guess?
Is the Sponsored Link on top only usefull for very expensive keywords or if you want traffic at any cost?

Hi instand, we use premium advertising for competitive keywords where people don't really look at Adwords. It's a great way to get exposure and traffic that converts. The difference in traffic and conversions between a # 1 Premium ad and a #1 Adwords ad is pretty significant.

2_much can I ask how you worked this one out as it may be my problem :

we use premium advertising for competitive keywords where people don't really look at Adwords

Is there anything authorative on such behavior?

What sort of traffic do you get on the Premium ad?

I was told on average the Premium Sponsored Link gets 100% more CTR compared with AdWords. How is your experience?

15 > 20% CTR is quite possible.

ans as has been mentioned, it can be a great investment and really pixxex the competition off :)

but I agree it should only be used for keywords where adwords are quite expensive.

roztom,

Welcome to Webmaster World.
And yes in certain situations where adwords are quite expensive you could get a better ROI

Shak, when you say 15-20% CTR for a Google Premium banner, how much CTR would you expect on the same keyword for #1 position adword? It's the differecne that's the big question.

I remember seeing another post a month ago where the guy said he found that only about 20% increase in CTR for premium as opposed to adword #1.
