What are cons of pausing adwords?

Hi,
If I pause my ads - say for 2 weeks - will it impact my ad position once I resume them? If my competitors start to get the clicks I used to get - wont this help their CTR - which would in turn work against me?

Thanks for input on this!

I'm pausing due to the fact I am in the process of building a new site - I have no choice but to pause them until the new site is ready - which I hope will be less than two weeks. Thanks for the help!

Since your postion isn't a fixed thing, but changes from moment to moment, it'll most likely be different in two weeks - because many things may have changed.

For example you may have more (or fewer) competitors, who may be paying more (or less), etc.

In most cases, however, I don't imagine the difference would be one from which you couldn't 'recover'.

You can always influence your postion by adjusting your Max CPC as compared to your competitors, and by trying to improve your CTR, also compared to your competitors.

Bottom line, I wouldn't worry to much about it. And I hope your site build is speedy and successful. ;)

AWA-

Along these lines, I've found that most of my conversions/sales occure after 6PM, but my clicks are equal throughout the day. What are the negatives of pausing the campaign from Midnight to 3PM, if any? Is there a way to set this up automatically?

Thanks-
Mike

PS I'm sure this has been discussed before, I'm searching the archives now.

You can pause and resume your campaigns as you wish.

I have recently paused my campaign due to fraudulent clicks and am waiting to see what Goofgle does before resuming.

Makes no difference.

I did a little testing this week, and I beleive pausing a campaign during the day and cranking it up overnight has a negative impact on your ads. From what I saw, I had a loss of about 90% in impressions and clicks.

I think where the problem lies is within the Content sites. I don't think you can pause/start those as easy as the main google search, due to the time it takes for these ads to filter within the system (for a lack of a more technical term).
