How can it get disabled?

So lets say you want AdWords to display for a domain name. Lets say someone wanted to buy ads on the search term webmasterworld.com or www.webmasterworld.com and in the AdWords interface set them both up on exact match.

It appears that any time a search for a domain name with or without the www is performed Google does not show any ads. The ads should therefore only show up on search or content syndication. Given that the only CTR Google uses to determine whether ads should be disabled or continue to run is the CTR on Google, how can an exact match on [webmasterworld.com] get disabled (assuming there are no TM issues preventing it from running)?

I have NO idea...

had to read and re-read the question a few times to understand exactly what you were saying, and have now understood it.

very curious to know the answer aswell.

maybe our friend AWA can help, since he never sent any vouchers for us at pubcon :(

Google does show ads, but you have to click on the "find pages that contain the term" to see them. While you wouldn't think too many users would click that link, I do see a number of vistitors originating from Google on url based AdWords.

Hey Shak, how do you know I wasn't personally responsible for the 1000 that were sent? ;)

Interesting question, skibum. I am pretty sure that your_store has provided the correct answer, but I'll confirm and post again later.

BTW, looks like I have a good chance to attend the next pubcon. I'm jazzzzzed. Just so long as I don't have to 'present', that is. I'm kinda shy!

AWA,

well i never got mine, so thats that!

had a nice chat with some friends of yours, and sure look fwd to you attending the next event.

dont suppose you are as cute as Emily? (probably not)

highlight of Emily's session, when she asked "how many google adwords advertisers in the conference room" on seeing over 50% of hands raised she want "YESSSSSSSS" whilst punching the air :)

A lot of people suffered from a DDos relating to the vouchers

Denied Distribution Of Supply

When we got to the google stand they had all been taken, it was only on the second day they were handed out by a google rep that most people got one

If your KW is [webmasterworld.com], the searched term to show this KW will be webmasterworld com.

Did I answer your question?

Yep, this would be the search page [google.com] which doesn't show ads but if the term is entered in quotes or someone clicks on

Find web pages that contain the term "webmasterworld.com"

as your_store noted then the ads will show, hence generating impressions and generating stats to come up with a CTR to determine if the ad stays or goes.

I still think the cloaked/disguised black hatters scrambling for a voucher was priceless to watch.

Black Hat 1 : Hey I got this $300 voucher

Black Hat 2 : Whatcha gonna do with it?

Black Hat 1 : I don't know but I just had to get me one.

Just a quick confirmation that your_store is right on the money with this post:

Nice job your_store! The right info, and fast too!
