Why does it take so long?

I hope you don't think this is picky, but why does it take so long to log-in to Adwords?

I use various web-based services all day long, and AdWords is by far the slowest.

We're Google. We don't care. People will still wait 15 seconds and spend money with us because they don't have a choice.

Google says WAIT and you WAIT!

I just did a 22 MISSISSIPPI count waiting for login.

serious? My Adwords login consistently takes this long, for months now. This is not a temporary thing for me.

It's always been fast since I started using them in April 2002.

I think its the old story of how much data you have - I have hundreds of ads and it takes an age to login - always.

ahhh...that could shed some light on it. Although I don't have tons of ads...maybe it is how LONG you've been using them, and how much HISTORICAL data there is...which is a recipe for disaster...!

Bingo, benflux!

Here are some tips for faster loading. Before logging out of your account, at least consider doing some of these things to minimize load time at your next login:

* Set your date range to 'today'. This is a whole lot less info than 'all time' in a large account.

* When you have the option as to how many of something to show, set it for the lowest number. (i.e. minimum number of keywords instead of all of them.)

* Select 'Show only active campaigns' rather than 'Show all campaigns'.

* Select 'Show only active Ad Groups' rather than 'Show all Ad Groups'.

* Uncheck the 'include deleted items that were active in this date range' box at the Ad Group level.

Doing these things will minimize the amount of data that must be pulled from the database during login - and will speed things up in large accounts.

Important note: exceeding the suggested maximums for number of Ad Groups and keywords can also really slow things down. These suggested maximums have been posted in this forum quite a few times.

Hope that helps!

appologies for my smart-assyness

I set it to 'show only active' and it is MUCH faster :)

I'm new to Adwords and didn't have much information to load with my account, and it still takes a very long time to login. I've found that if it doesn't come up right away, I can just hit stop, reload and then it logs in without a problem.
