Could this be somebody clicking an ad several times in a row? I've heard the sever lag story but this keyword has had more clicks then impressions all day.

It's also possible that someone (or people) have searched before midnight, but clicked afterward. I use tabbed browsing and can search 10-20 minutes before I make a click on some sites - I will be browsing others in that time and then come back to the results I got earlier. Or a user may use the back button to a search result half an hour before. Google could well log impressions and clicks with different dates.

That makes sense. Somebody searched for widgets and then clicked on a search result spent some time checking it out and then hit the back key and clicked on the ad over the midnight timeline?

Yes, it does happen. But if you view 'all time' in AdWords management screen, they should never be over 100% in that.
