So what can/can't you change in your ads without losing it's positions?
The two ads at the top are sort of a special case, KyleTroy.
In order to appear at the top, the ads and keywords must be reviewed and approved - as noted in this forum in the past.
So, if you make an editorial change to an ad (meaning any of the ad copy, and/or the Display or Destination URL), then the ad needs to be reviewed and approved before it can go back to the 2 top spots.
Also: if you add new keywords, but don't change the ad itself, then the ad can't go to the top for the new keywords until those keywords have been reviewed and approved.
However it won't come down for the already approved keywords, if you've made no changes to the ad/URLs.
Hope that gives you a good overview.

I had a brand new ad showing at 1.2 then after changing it because it wasn't showing in my keyword search results it went to 2.3.
I may have, in a round about way, found the answer to my other question about why I get no displays at all in my keyword of choice. There are no ads showing for it so maybe I don't get a spot (as it would be #1 with no others to show) until it is approved? maybe?
Getting very frustrated. I was worried about my budget being too low but at this rate I will never be billed at all!
So trying to tweak your ad for better results may actually counter productive? How long does it take for a review to be done and an ad approved?
Never ever tweak an approved ad. Make a new one, wait for it to be approved, then disable the old one - or let them run against each other to see which one does better.
Review times for ads are usually 2-5 business days. An ad is approved when it shows up on a partner site (such as AOL). You will not get a confirmation email or anything to know an ad has been approved so you need to check them yourself.
Seems this would be another 'wish list' item - knowing when an ad has been reviewed and approved.
