The stats for my first week:

36,000 Impressions
170 Clicks
.4 CTR
Average Poition: 4.6

I describe my business like this:

------------------------------
Widget Design by Widget Guy
Custom Widget Design. $295-$495
See our portfolio. Free CD-ROM
-------------------------------

I have a great position in a very competitive field, with a sub-par CTR. I state the price range to let the potential client know our price point before entering.

I am new to this and really need some advice. All is appreciated.

Thanks!

You tried it without the price range? How about setting up 2 ads for the same ad group, one with the price and one without, and let google's ad serving optimisation do its thing (or just look and see which ad gets a better CTR for yourself)

I agree with TheDave, but I'd take it to more of an extreme.

If I can't wrap my mind around a particular ad and why it's not preforming, I usually make 4-6 ads that have subtle, but significent differences to see how they preform.

The price in one manner does prequalify people as they now know the range they're looking in - but on the other hand, getting more clicks from G can actually lower your cpc enough to make it worth paying for the extra visitors.

I also think you're not taking advantage of the 2nd line of your ad. Since the title line lists Widget Design, the 2nd line isnt really stating anything new.

Ok - on the fly here - but hope it gives you some ideas.

I think many people don't take advantage of the display URL line. If your company name doesn't contain the keyword in question, then capatalize your url with the company name (www.CustomWidgetDesigns.com) and put the KW in the title line.

When you make different ads, I'd also play with the characters on the 3rd line - remove the free cd in one, and the portfolio in another for something else to see how it works, and make the url - www.CustomWidgets.com/FreeCD or www.CustomWidgets.com/Portfolio
