How long before changing keywords?

I began my Adwords campaign yesterday. Using a set of keywords, I have only 7 clicks for the day. How long before I should tinker with the keywords? I would like to see around 50 clicks per day.

Also, I have visited a website that calculates the number of searches for a particular term. I don't remember the address, any ideas?

Help is appreciated.

Welcome to webmasterworld. I would give it a few days. The way it works is that your ad initially just runs on Google but is "released" to the partner search and adsense network once the reviewers have appproved your ad which typically takes one to a few days.

Traffic goes up most of the time when this happens. Of course you can alsways improve your ad text (make new ads) and add keywords and variations.

Does this mean that every time you change your ad it takes a few days for the other search engines to place it?

yes if you make changes to our ad test these are reviewed and until that time (which can be anywere between a few hours and a few days) the ad will "only" run on Google and not on its search partners.

To get around the review time for new ads. Don't modify an ad, but make a new one. When the new ad gets syndicated to the partners, then disable the old ad. It's often useful to make several ads for each kw to test their effectiveness in both CTR and ROI.

I agree with ewhisper and do it the same way. Never change an ad, just delete it when its CTR falls behind your other ads.

I've had my ad up with the same keywords for about a month how, and I'm just now starting to see a decrease in signups to CTR. It was high when I first started.. about 75% would register who clicked an add. Now.. It's just costing me money, and not gaining any members..

I would say about a month b4 changing keywords.

I would not change the keywords but the ad text. Of course keywords cannot perform and then you get rid of them but I found that once a keyword performs at a certain level it will, with normal statistical variations, keep on performing. Changing the ad and e.g. your proposition or landing pages can make a HUGE difference.
