Banned term on Adwords - how does competitor fool Google?

Interesting one:

A competitor of ours is advertising on Google Adwords under a ‘banned term’ although no matter how much we try we are unable to do so.

For argument sake lets say the banned term is the phrase ‘banned term’.

I have tried to fool the Adwords computer by placing words in between the keyword like this: banned term, banned random word term. I also tried banned+term, banned-term and banned’ term’ but to no avail. I don’t know how he is fooling the Adwords database.

If you could crack this one it would be much appreciated and very impressive.

Kindest regards to you all.

Perhaps they're only bidding on "banned"? Or "term"?

I had several keywords disapproved because they contained a well known brand name. But they forgot one of those keywords and I was able to keep it for months. Can't say why they missed one, I was just lucky.
Don't have any tips for you though.

Think I figured it out. He just put the words in reverse order. i.e. term banned

there you go all!

Ironically, the suggestion tool actually suggests well known brand names!
