No matter what I do (firewall off, no proxy), I can't see my regional ads. I know they are being show as I can see the impressions each day they are getting.
Any idea what else to try to see my own region? I've done searches for other advertisers I know are also regional targeting, and I don't see any regional ads at all on my machine, and the other advertisers I've talked to in my region have the same problem, they can't see their own ads.
Any ideas of what else to do to see regional adwords?
If you are in your specified region, and aren't able to see your ads, it means that Google is unable to read you IP for some reason. This is mentioned in the Regional Targeting FAQs.
Although I am not particulary technical, I am sure there can be other reasons for this beyond the dynamic/static issue that you mention.
I'm not aware of a work-around, but will double check with the engineering folks and see what I can learn.

One client I have is regional, targeting 6 states.
Since I can't be in 6 states at once, there's no way I can easily check to see if ads are showing up in the other states.
Is anyone building a Regionally Specific IP Proxy server for such a purpose?
How valuable would such a thing be?
AWA - is Google thinking about offering such a thing?
I live in one of the regions that I'm regional targeting for adwords. I have a static ip address, so G should be able to tell where I live. No matter what I do (firewall off, no proxy), I can't see my regional ads...
eWhisper, at this point there is no work around that I've been able to uncover. Seems like a silly suggestion, but it might be worth checking from another computer.

chewy, point well taken. This would certainly make sense as a feature, and I'll forward your comment/question to the product development team.

I've looked in my region from 10 computers, and have had friends looking for them as well. My region gets 1k impressions/day, so someone is seeing the ads.
I was recently in another state that I'm targeting, and tried to see ads for that state, again, nothing.
It would be very useful for advertisers to have a feature where we can list what state/city we'd like to view, and do a search for keywords.
I'm not technical enough to know the challenges involved in making these ideas a reality, but I am certainly technical enough to cut and paste into an email to the right folks! ;)
Probably an excellent time to get the feedback too, as Regional Targeting is in Beta at present.

It also crossed my mind that having a proxy server in every telephone area code (USA) or major population centre would be great. But it would be even better if the Adwords interface gave us that feature.
Ours was shown as "Dissaproved - not running".
At first, the ad showed up for a couple of days, it has been gone after that. Have you seen anyone elses lately?
So I have set it to run for North America and it is still showing as "Dissaproved - not running". and does not work.
BTW, this is not the other "Dissaproved" I normally get when I forget a comma.
I do a little bit of regional targeting for my home/P-T business, and the one thing I keep thinking is that the local ads need to be distinguished better than the national ads. The little line at the bottom that says the name of the region being targeted isn't noticeable enough, and Google users who are truly looking for local content would be better served by having the local ads stand out more from the non-local ads.
There's my note for the suggestion box. :)
If we had a dollar for every time AWA says he's not technical...... I thought everyone that worked at Google had to be a doctor or have six phD's!
Well, most of us do have six advanced degrees of course, but I am that oh-so-rare exception. ;)
Actually, I believe I was hired due to my long history as a Customer Advocate, much more than for my degrees.
That'll tell you a lot about why I wanted to post in this forum, BTW.
