Should I buy Chris Carpenter's book, Google Cash or Andrew Goodman's book? Study it to death, then start?

I don't think you need a book. Jump right in!

Just create the ads and test them.
Study other Adwords ads.
Learn the different matching options Adwords has.
Only bid on relevant terms.
Set a budget and measure your returns.
Read this forum and post questions.

Taking into account how quickly Google and Adwords are changing, any printed book will be grossly outdated. For example just couple days ago google announced broad matching, which will change the adwords completly, and make any books published prior to that useless.

I would experiment with AdWords and pick up tips in this forum.

byepolar, they are correct. Don't waste money on a book on that subject.

Use this place as your resource as it's going to have up-to-the-minute information.

Another thing, consider coming to the WebmasterWorld conferences where you can meet with these guys and learn specifics of interest to you and your business.

I concur with the opinions expressed here. Don't spend your money on an adwords book/e-book when you can find most (if not all) of the pertinent info on here.

There are a bunch of people who'd love to help you without padding their pockets. Besides, I think learning by doing (how I started out) is worth more than 100 training books put together. Save your money and do it yourself whilst checking on here periodically.
