Create new ads - CTR way up but clicks WAY down?

When I test a new ad vs. a proven one, I'm getting crazy results?

So I have a proven ad on adwords, gets about 2% ctr and a ton of clicks. I want to try to get better (obviously) so I create 2 new ads to rotate against it.

These new ads are getting much higher CTR but the click count is outrageous! These new ads are only getting 10-20 clicks per day while my proven ad is getting 250!

I thought google rotates all ads within an adgroup evenly? Could the lower CTR but higher clicks have something to do with content ads? Very confused.

Shak,
That's the question. How can I tell if this is the case? I am excited that my new ads have such a high CTR, but I dont know if this is because they arent on the "content" sites or not? Is there a way to tell?

Thats a something that the adwords interface doesn't offer, you can't tell if the ads are approved for content sites. The only way you can check is to do an aol or froogle search for your keywords.

I guess the question I really need to ask is, when will my ads with the new copy start getting the impressions (and clicks) that my other ad that's been running for weeks now?

Do i have to wait weeks until my ad with the new copy is rotated in evenly?

I have done that. They arent the quickest in getting back to you. I was hoping someone in WWW would already know that?

Sports Workout, when you create additional ads in an existing Ad Group, it is true that the new ads will not be sent to partner sites (Search or Content) until after they have been reviewed and approved.

So, if your existing (and approved) ad has been doing well on partner sites, this would go a long way towards explaining the reduced number of clicks for your new ads.

The period of time required to review an ad is highly dependent on how many new or edited ads have been submitted in the same time period, and can vary quite a bit. So it is very difficult to give you an exact time frame.

Please know, however, that we make every effort to get to each ad as quickly as possible. After all, it is to everyone's advantage to have your ads running successfully.

Thanks adwordsadvisor for explaining. I understand exactly what you mean!
