I think I need some motivation. I have made some adwords for companies of CJ. Some ads really start going nicely, targeted to what someone is looking for, 1-3% CTR etc.
However, I am not really getting any sales in.
* How long should I wait/try per advertiser?
* Is it so that once you have a good running campaign you can just from time to time optimize it but generally it will keep performing good for some time at least?
Help!

typical close rates are in the 1-5% range. (this is a very general statement)
after you determine your close rate you'll know how many clicks you need to get 1 sale. from that sale you determine if the commission is enough to pay for the clicks to get that sale.
If this sounds familiar, then consider using PowerPosting (much discussed in this Forum) to send Google's user to a unique (and pertinent) page on your site on a per-keyword basis. Sending our user to the page where they see exactly what they were looking for greatly increases your chances of converting a click into a customer.
This is simply done, and instructions can be found in the following page from the AdWords FAQ. (Sorry, can't auto link as this is a secure URL)
[adwords.google.com...]
By the way, you'll note that you can use the same tool to give each keyword is own CPC as well.
Thanks for all the grat info! You guys are the best!

In my opinion, the following should be done in order to achieve a good percentage of click-through-BUYERS (visitors are unimportant):
a) Be very specific with your ads - if you only sell 'red widgets' then make sure that you only target people searching for 'red widgets'. If you sell blue, green and red widgets, then create seperate AdGroups with seperate keywords. Then if someone searches for 'green widgets' and sees your advert (with 'Green Widgets' in bold) they are more likely to click.
b) If price is involved, state this on the advert. Again, this will ensure that people clicking on your advert are happy with the product/service and the price.
c) See a) and b)

James
