She assured me that such notices were ALWAYS sent before keywords were disabled, and that's when it hit me: my stupid hosting provider was treating the e-mails as spam, without my knowledge or consent.
Apparently, since Google understandably sends out high volumes of these similarly-worded warning notices, my hosting provider's server-side copy of SpamAssasin was simply deleting them upon receipt. Worse yet, my provider noted that there was nothing they could do, and they certainly could not deactivate the spam filter for me or any other clients.
Needless to say, I'm shopping for a new host, and have changed my e-mail address with Google so as to receive future notices.
Since my current (lousy) hosting provider is one of, if not THE largest company in its space and serves tens of thousands of folks, I figured that I may not be the only one in this boat.
The moral: Make sure YOU have full control over what e-mail you're getting, or find yourself surprised and dismayed when your AdWords-related site traffic suddenly plunges without notice.
In my case, I'm now unable to smartly tweak several of my campaigns because important keywords were deactivated before I could alter ad copy :(
And yeah - change the hosting provider.
By the way, I do presume that you login to your AdWords account atleast once a day. In the new interface, you will see something like "3 ads disaproved" as soon as you login (if the ads have been yanked offline).
And I'm not fond of Yahoo e-mail or Hotmail e-mail, either. I've found those services to be limiting, slow, and generally blech. Since I POP my mail every 2-5 minutes, I get close enough to an instant notification anyway.
For high quality web-based (and still IMAP/POP3'able) mail, I HIGHLY recommend OddPost. Well worth the $30 a year. Excellent customer service, fabulous interface, and spam filtering that the USER controls.
Luckily, I have already identified one host (which I'm using to host my blog currently) that is reliable and affordable :)
