While I've had no reason to use their customer service myself, I find it's a sad indictment on today's society that to wait 4 mins on the phone and then to be greeted by a helpful person is considered a rarity and not the norm.
May the Jill's of this world propogate and prosper.

May the Jill's of this world propogate and prosper. Thanks again..:)
Is this a service for those spending enough to have an "account manager"?
Still trying to get AdWords to take my clickfraud issue seriously, they don't seem to care - threads like this are salt in the wound! :(
I wouldn't let any other supplier take $200 a month off me and provide no means to contact a human easily.
So how much do you have to spend a month to get this number? NOTHING
Is this a service for those spending enough to have an "account manager"? I HAVE NO ACCOUNT MANAGER I AM NEW TO AD WORDS AND HAD JUST SIGNED UP AND WAS CONFUSED ABOUT NAVIGATING AND SUCH!

I wouldn't let any other supplier take $200 a month off me and provide no means to contact a human easily. YOU SHOULDNT HAVE TO....CALL THE TOLL FREE NUMBER
Hope this helps and I am sure you will come back and post your experience..have a wonderful Holiday weekend....:)
I posted this before, but for the edification of the bretheren ;) , I'll post it again:
Hoovers.com has for the last four or five years been the defacto internet resource for digging up information about any company.
So... If you want to place a call to overture or findwhat or google you look them up in... Hoovers. Pretty simple.
It's kind of weird that Search Engine Marketers fall down on their faces when they need to look up a simple phone number.
Hey everybody, try this: Call 411. It's old fashioned and not as sexy as using the internet, but if you don't know how to search beyond using Google, take it from me, in the United States, 411 will get you places.
Let's see, Overture is in Pasadena and Google is in Mountain View...
I recall that the last time I posted advice that they should call Google, he responded that he already had Google's main phone number but that he wanted AdWords' phone number. (He was put off by the automated message.) If he had shut up for a moment and listened to the automated message he would have heard the toll free phone number to Google AdWords.
Ok, all of the above is said in the spirit of sharing- Go in peace. :)
In the past I have swallowed the international call charges and called Google Inc. only to listen to a recorded message that certainly didn't mention a specific AdWords number.
It is well known that big spenders get account managers so I just assumed that the toll free number was one of the perks to those who have account managers. That I can understand.
However it is annoying to learn that there is a number that I could have called, but was not able to find out about it easily through the normal channels!
Janetteddy-
10/10 - I search WebmasterWorld (via Google) for plenty of things but it just did not occur to look here for an AdWords support number! I'd pretty much come to the conclusion that there was no human contact possible for us small spenders.

The way I found the AdWords number mentioned in this post was through the recorded message that's on Google's main U.S. number.
It asks you for the last name of a person you want to reach, blah, blah, blah, then goes on to mention the specific adwords phone number.

So I think that's where you may have been missing the number. "If you wish to advertise" means AdWords, means you will talk to someone. Takes a little gumshoe, but you don't have to be Sam Spade to get it. ;)
But if you're outside of the U.S., I don't think the toll free number may work. As ususal, Shak has a good alternative.

That number is for US callers only. Anyone else should call corporate headquarters and ask for the Adwords Dept.
We have had a good response - i.e always someone there answering the phone, but little in the way of useful support.
i.e ...off to a meeting ("sorry, I'm too important"), or just ignoring the problem (unexplained charges on credit card) and burying their heads in the sand ("maybe they will go away and call someone else...")
We complained about a billing problem in January, and one of our Adwords accounts is still switched off by Google. Well, I'd say they've lost around $12000. Small potatoes I know, but how many others are like us?

Yup, I think I said as much in message# 17.

Having been stranded in Madrid a couple years ago, and trying to communicate to Hotwire from Spain to re-book my flight home, I know very well the agony of USA toll free numbers not being accessible from Europe. ;)
Ouch.
In my three experiences:
I've never waited long on hold.
The reps have always been professional and very knowledgeable.
I hung up feeling confident that my problem/concern was or would be taken care of.
I actually look forward to calling them when I have to.
Too bad we can't get people like that to man the phones at our companies.
