Does keyword ranking improve over time?

Hello All

I have a new site that is only 4 weeks old. I am starting to see some keyword rankings (however very few) on Google but to my disappointment no listing in top 30.

My question is beause my site is so new will these keywords improve over time? I keep hearing that Google has this thing called the "sandbox" for new websites. Do you think this is playing a roll in my rankings etc....?

In regards to new websites when can I realistically start seeing some very good traffic and rankings?

Thanks.

It's perfectly normal.

To be indexed requires some weeks.
To be ranked is very different and requires months, supposing that pages are well optimized.

However I see that you've joined to the solution by yourself:your considerations above are correct.

Be patient and wait to get out of the "sandbox".
Generally ,waiting time for the first timid results related to the less competitive search terms is of a month or so.
To get, instead a good general ranking for all your main search terms is question of months and depends also on the competitor movings.

So it would be a good thing to use a SEO software in order to verify if your pages are really SE friendly and what is the general trend in the time.
