High PR rating on new pages but not the old ones

Hi,

I've just been looking through my site and found some pages to be OR4, which is the highest PR any of my pages. So heres the story.

Index page is PR3, then I've got categories listed down the left hand side, all PR2. However I have recently added 3 new categories, all of which are PR4, even though no one actually links to them (apart from my website).

DOes any one know why this would be? How could i bump the other up to PR4?

Thanks,
Craig

Someone is linking to the web page other than you or Google toolbar is messed up. And if your getting your backlink info from Google, your not being shown all the backlinks you really have. I wouldn't worry about Page Rank to much, but if you want to increase it, I would go get links from Page Rank 4, Page Rank 5 and up web sites.

I manage 27 sites. All those less than 6 months old (mostly redesigned sites) have their home page PR less than the other pages . All those more than 6 months old have higher PR on home page and "usually" less on inside pages or else they are the same.

All of the above I have only submitted links to the home page.

I also have a 301 redirect in htaccess file of all these sites telling Google to list non-www urls as www.

I don't see any other correlation than this might have something to do with the sand box.

Can anyone else confirm this?

I've had this happen to a new site in the past. Don't have a clue why it did it though.

btw, this is being discussed here too:
