i just installed Google's toolbar to be able to see rankings. what i understand is that rank is higher if there are more "higher ranked" sites which link back to you. i would like to know if this algorithm is described somewhere? how does one know what should he do (a webmaster) to position his site higher (legal way of course)? i believe there are some common guidelines if nothing else. thanks.
