So I was looking into getting google's or Alexa's toolbar, but both websites show only being compatable with IE...Does anyone know of any future plans google plans to have with making their toolbar work with firefox?

you can get third party modules that mimic the google toolbar.
I like this one, it shows google pr, and alexa popularity, but doesn't have a lot of other googlebar features.
I have been using the one found right at mozilla.org. Works great

I'm using that one too. Of course it doesn't show PageRank but that's a pretty broken kind of thermometer. It does show the number of backlinks via the Google link: search. That's somewhat broken too but not as badly. :(
