I can't find any discussions anywhere talking about the incompleteness of the Google Desktop indexing. What's driving me crazy is that it appears that the software did a fantastic job in its initial index of the emails and files on my system. And it almost instantly indexes (completely) the Slogger files (so I can cache my Firebox browsing), so I'm thrilled about that. What's not working is the Outlook Express indexing. Desktop fairly quickly indexes new Express messages, but not completely. It's as if it's grabbing header-type information, but not the full text of the messages (and they are all short message, nothing over several K). I'm wondering if I should uninstall and reinstall and hope it completely indexes my current email the same excellent way it did the first time. The first time it only took several hours for Desktop to index 20 GB on my drive, and I tested it extensively (former software QA guy here).
Anyone else seen incomplete indexing of their email since installing Desktop? GoogleGuy, any ideas?
I find it frustrating, because I was all ready to dump my X1 after using Desktop Google, but if it's not going to thoroughly index my Outlook Express mail, I'm going to be less than positive in my recommendations. I don't get it - X1 completely indexes my email in seconds with the click of a button.
