Hi,
I know this has probably been discussed before so pls redirect me if so.
We are white hat with a basically dynamic(shopping cart site)with some old static pages left from the original site.
We made no changes except to change hosting(within US)and now have a white bar instead of PR4
Will this be rectified naturally or is there something here to do?
Thanks
MM

PR is based on link popularity only. I'm not sure that hosting or IP changes would affect this. Was your site down while you made the transition?

We've had a similar problem where a site we're involved with has just dropped from PR 5 to 0.

But is "link popularity only" the only factor? Our particular site has around a dozen sites linking to it in Google, most with PRs of 4 or 5, and none with PR zero.

Could there be other reasons that cause these drops in PR besides just links?

I think there is graeme. I have a site with a good couple of links coming into it .. PR 7's and 6's which are from recognised and good sites. And they dont show up in the backlinks of google or change my PR.

If you changed the hosting and the site was unavailable for some time Google may think that it no longer exists and thus will show no PR. As soon as the spider hits the site it will update the PR. Make sure that the spider is not blocked from your website at the new hosting company.

When did you move host?

Sorry for the delay in replying and thanks for all the info
We moved hosts about 3 weeks ago now and had no downtime at all.

Since the original post I have seen many comments about G and PR shuffles (plus traffic down etc)so I am accepting life without the little green bar!
Hopefully it will resolved itself soon.
Not a suicide issue though!
Thanks again
