download the latest Toolbar version, once done installing open up regedit any export everything in "[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Google]", now exit regedit and open the regfile with notepad, in there delete the entry about "ButtonIds" and save the regfile.
now uninstall the toolbar and delete your "X:\Program Files\Google\" folder.
now disconnect from net, and install your disired version).
Once installed use some editor (i used HexWorkshop) to open the GoogleToolbar1 (or 2).dll, in there look for all instances of the version of the dll and then change it to whatever the latest toolbar version is, then save your modified dll into some folder.
now import the reg-files from the latest version. then open up your Task Manager and close explorer.exe, then in Task Mananger click "File>New Task>Browse...>" browse to where you saved the fixed GoogleToolbar file and copy it, now goto the Google folder in "Program Files" and delete the del entry there, once done with that paste the fixed one there.
now to get explorer back running (without having to reboot) right-click some folder and select Explore, this will make explorer.exe open up again.
well... i think that's all of it, so just get back online and i hope this works for ya ;}
