It would be fairly simple, and you wouldn't have to mouse all over the browser window to vote. Double clicking would just follow the link without voting, and single clicking would bring up a slider that would allow you to vote on the page that was just viewed. While you're deciding where to click on the slider, the new page would already start to load. Just an idea.
Don't the voting buttons only apply when you're doing a Google search?

I'd have thought they'd be an annoyance if they came up *all* the time...
Well, as the number of pages indexed grows, user input might become more useful.
Great! Then I'll come up with a script to connect via thousands of random annon. proxies and vote my site silly!
Might be a good idea to test and see if I can get a PR bump. I agree that the voting thing is just a way to make a sound, and make people feel important.
Besides, Google isn't a democracy... it's not about to let the common man influence what it thinks is important or not!
